I'd like to thank my high school English teachers for assigning me so many research papers for English Lit. As daunting as research can be I really do love it. It's been a week since I decided what I want for my next publication. I've learned so much and I've only scratched the surface. Some of my research is absolutely heartbreaking. Stay tuned...

As most of you have figured out, the Maya did not predict the end of the world. My research of the Maya and their ever mysterious calendar that we all have been told was the meaning of the end of the world, was not only a misinterpretation of the date the Long Count Calendar ended (just as our Gregorian calendar ends every Dec 31), but also a misconception of the meaning of end of the Long Count Calendar days.

Happy Winter Soltice everyone! Only a couple of days until the so called "Maya Doomsday" and frankly, I just roll my eyes when people talk of it. December 21, 2012 will be a busy night for hotels, casinos, bars, restaurants, ect... Everyone is having a Doomsday party. Except me... I may go out & join the people in the festivities, but only to educate them on the reality of it all, not to celebrate a Maya prediction that was completely misinterpreted.
December 21 is fast approaching! Will perpetual doom arrive? Will the world as we know it really end? With the economy still in recession and political parties clearly divided, it may seem like it.

Earlier in August I gave my presentation "Unlocking The Mysteries of The Ancient Maya" to the University of Minnesota Rotary Club. So far this was the smallest rotary club I've presented, but yet again I was not disappointed with the warm reception that I received from the audience.
After my presentation I was presented with a donation of a children's book in my name to the Jeremiah Program from their rotary group. The Jeremiah Program is a great program that the University of Minnesota Rotary Club supports. It is a program that helps single mothers conquer poverty.  My book signing at Little Big Man Bookstore at the Visitor Center in Meeteetse, Wyoming this past week was a BIG success. I signed books from 10 am to noon and ended up being sold out with a half an hour to spare. Thanks to everyone for supporting me and coming out to my signing! It was great fun.
