The author, Bonnie Bley, condemns not only the criminals but the negligence of law enforcement in their lack of response and in their too-often refusal to identify these tragedies as crimes at all. It has won several awards, deservedly so. The research is solid but didn't hit me over the head with minutiae which is a common stumble for debut authors. This is a story of indigenous girls and women who are abducted, often murdered, and the crusade to bring them home and find justice. Settle in with this book, it is written in a style unique to people of Montana and Wyoming where stories seem to start as a simple tale and end as haunting as a ghost story. Personally I think this book should be handed out at every dude ranch in "cowboy" country to bear witness to a people who were living in harmony long ago and the women who continue to be silenced victims.
